   ¹⁰the angel said to the young man, “Brother, today we will lodge with Raguel. He is your kinsman. He has an only daughter named Sarah. I will speak about her, that she should be given to you for a wife. ¹¹For her inheritance belongs to you, and you only are of her kindred. ¹They came to Ecbatana, and arrived at the house of Raguel. But Sarah met them; and she greeted them, and they her. Then she brought them into the house. ⁹So he communicated the thing to Raguel. Raguel said to Tobias, “Eat, drink, and make merry: ¹⁰for it belongs to you to take my child. However I will tell you the truth. ¹¹I have given my child to seven men of our relatives, and whenever they came in to her, they died in the night. But for the present be merry.” And Tobias said, “I will taste nothing here, until you all make a covenant and enter into that covenant with me.” ¹²Raguel said, “Take her to yourself from now on according to custom. You are her relative, and she is yours. The merciful God will give all good success to you.” ¹³And he called his daughter Sarah, and took her by the hand, and gave her to be wife of Tobias, and said, “Behold, take her to yourself after the law of Moses, and lead her away to your father.” And he blessed them. ¹⁴He called Edna his wife, then took a book, wrote a contract, and sealed it. ¹⁵Then they began to eat. ¹⁶And Raguel called his wife Edna, and said to her, “Sister, prepare the other chamber, and bring her in there.” ¹⁷She did as he asked her, and brought her in there. She wept, and she received the tears of her daughter, and said to her, ⁴But after they were both shut in together, Tobias rose up from the bed, and said, “Sister, arise, and let’s pray that the Lord may have mercy on us.” ⁵And Tobias began to say, “Blessed are you, O God of our fathers, and blessed is your holy and glorious name forever. Let the heavens bless you, and all your creatures. ⁶You made Adam, and gave him Eve his wife for a helper and support. From them came the seed of men. You said, it is not good that the man should be alone. Let’s make him a helper like him. ⁷And now, O Lord, I take not this my sister for lust, but in truth. Command that I may find mercy and grow old with her.” ⁸She said with him, “Amen.” And they both slept that night. ⁹Raguel arose, and went and dug a grave,

   ¹আরোহণ-গীত। ধন্য প্রত্যেকে যে সদাপ্রভুুকে সম্মান করে, যে তাঁর পথে চলে। ²তোমার হাত যোগান দেবে, তুমি আনন্দ করবে; তুমি ধন্য হবে এবং উন্নতি লাভ করবে। ³তোমার ঘরের ভেতরে তোমার স্ত্রী ফলবতী দ্রাক্ষালতার মতো হবে; তোমার শিশুরা জিত বৃক্ষের চারার মতো হবে তারা টেবিলের চারদিকে বসবে। ⁴হ্যাঁ, অবশ্যই, মানুষটি ধন্য হবে যে সদাপ্রভুুকে সম্মান করে। ⁵সদাপ্রভুু সিয়োন থেকে আমাকে আশীর্বাদ করুন, যেন তুমি সারাজীবন ধরে যিরুশালেমের উন্নতি দেখতে পাও।

   ²⁸আর তাদের একজন ব্যবস্থার শিক্ষক কাছে এসে তাদের তর্ক বিতর্ক করতে শুনলেন এবং যীশু তাদের ঠিকঠিক উত্তর দিচ্ছেন শুনে তাকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, সব আদেশের ভেতরে কোনটী প্রথম? ²⁹যীশু উত্তর করলেন, প্রথমটি এই, “হে ইস্রায়েল, শোন; আমাদের ঈশ্বর প্রভু একমাত্র প্রভু;” ³⁰“আর তুমি সেই ঈশ্বরকে তোমার সমস্ত হৃদয়, তোমার সমস্ত প্রাণ ও তোমার সমস্ত মন দিয়ে তোমার ঈশ্বর প্রভুকে ভালবাসবে।” ³¹দ্বিতীয়টি এই, “তোমার প্রতিবেশীকে নিজের মত ভালবাসবে” এই দুইটি আদেশের থেকে বড় আর কোন আদেশ নেই। ³²ব্যবস্থার শিক্ষক তাঁকে বললেন, ভালোগুরু, আপনি সত্যি বলছেন যে, তিনি এক এবং তিনি ছাড়া অপর কেউ নেই; ³³আর সমস্ত হৃদয়, সমস্ত বুদ্ধি, তোমার সমস্ত শক্তি ও ভালবাসা দিয়ে ঈশ্বরকে ভালবাসা এবং প্রতিবেশীকে নিজের মত ভালবাসা সব হোম ও বলিদান থেকে ভালো। ³⁴তখন সে বুদ্ধিমানের মতো উত্তর দিয়েছে শুনে যীশু তাকে বললেন, তুমি ঈশ্বরের রাজ্যের খুব কাছাকাছি আছ। এর পরে তাঁকে কোন কথা জিজ্ঞাসা করতে আর কারোর কোনো সাহস হলো না।
