    1And Tobit called his son Tobias, and said to him, “See, my child, that the man which went with you have his wages, and you must give him more.” 5And he called the angel, and said to him, “Take half of all that you have brought.” 6Then he called them both privately, and said to them, “Bless God, and give him thanks, and magnify him, and give him thanks in the sight of all that live, for the things which he has done with you. It is good to bless God and exalt his name, showing forth with honor the works of God. Don’t be slack to give him thanks. 7It is good to conceal the secret of a king, but to reveal gloriously the works of God. Do good, and evil won’t find you. 8Good is prayer with fasting, alms, and righteousness. A little with righteousness is better than much with unrighteousness. It is better to give alms than to lay up gold. 9Alms delivers from death, and it purges away all sin. Those who give alms and do righteousness will be filled with life; 10but those who sin are enemies to their own life. 11Surely I will conceal nothing from you. I have said, ‘It is good to conceal the secret of a king, but to reveal gloriously the works of God.’ 12And now, when you prayed, and Sarah your daughter-in-law, I brought the memorial of your prayer before the Holy One. When you buried the dead, I was with you likewise. 13And when you didn’t delay to rise up, and leave your dinner, that you might go and cover the dead, your good deed was not hidden from me. I was with you. 14And now God sent me to heal you and Sarah your daughter-in-law. 15I am Raphael, one of the seven holy angels which present the prayers of the saints and go in before the glory of the Holy One.” 20Now give God thanks, because I ascend to him who sent me. Write in a book all the things which have been done.”

    2For he scourges, and shows mercy. He leads down to the grave, and brings up again. There is no one who will escape his hand. 6If you turn to him with your whole heart and with your whole soul, to do truth before him, then he will turn to you, and won’t hide his face from you. See what he will do with you. Give him thanks with your whole mouth. Bless the Lord of righteousness. Exalt the everlasting King. I give him thanks in the land of my captivity, and show his strength and majesty to a nation of sinners. Turn, you sinners, and do righteousness before him. Who can tell if he will accept you and have mercy on you? 7I exalt my God. My soul exalts the King of heaven, and rejoices in his greatness. 8Let all men speak, and let them give him thanks in Jerusalem.

    38আর যীশু নিজের শিক্ষার ভেতর দিয়ে তাদেরকে বললেন, ব্যবস্থার শিক্ষকদের থেকে সাবধানে থেকো, তারা লম্বা লম্বা কাপড় পরে বেড়াতে চায়, 39এবং হাটে বাজারে লোকদের শুভেচ্ছা জানায়, সমাজঘরে প্রধান প্রধান আসন এবং ভোজে প্রধান প্রধান জায়গা ভালবাসে। 40এই সব লোকেরা বিধবাদের সব বাড়ি দখল করে, আর ছলনা করে বড় বড় প্রার্থনা করে, এই সব লোকেরা বিচারে অনেক বেশি শাস্তি পাবে। 41আর তিনি দানের বাক্সের সামনে বসলেন, লোকেরা দানের বাক্সের ভেতরে কিভাবে টাকা রাখছে তা দেখছিলেন। তখন অনেক ধনী লোক তার ভেতরে অনেক কাঁচা টাকা রাখলো। 42এর পরে একজন গরিব বিধবা এসে মাত্র দুইটি পয়সা তাতে রাখলো, যার মূল্য সিকি পয়সা। 43তখন তিনি নিজের শিষ্যদের কাছে ডেকে বললেন, আমি তোমাদের সত্যি বলছি দানের বাক্সে যারা পয়সা রাখছে, তাদের সবার থেকে এই গরিব বিধবা বেশি রাখল; 44কারণ অন্য সবাই নিজের নিজের বাড়তি টাকা পয়সা থেকে কিছু কিছু রেখেছে, কিন্তু এই বিধবা গরিব মহিলা বেঁচে থাকার জন্য যা ছিল সব কিছু দিয়ে দিলো।

    41তাঁর মা ও বাবা প্রতি বছর নিস্তারপর্ব্বের দিনের যিরুশালেমে যেতেন। 42তাঁর বারো বছর বয়স হলে, তাঁরা রীতি অনুসারে পর্বের জন্য যিরুশালেমে গেলেন; 43এবং পর্ব শেষ করে যখন তাঁরা ফিরে আসছিলেন, তখন বালক যীশু যিরুশালেমে থেকে গেলেন, আর তার মা বাবা সেটা জানতে পারলেন না, 44কিন্তু তিনি সহযাত্রীদের সঙ্গে আছেন, মনে করে তাঁরা এক দিনের র পথ গেলেন, পরে তাঁরা আত্মীয়স্বজন ও পরিচিত লোকদের মধ্যে তাঁর খোঁজ করতে লাগলেন, 45আর তাঁকে না পেয়ে তাঁর খোঁজ করতে করতে যিরুশালেমে ফিরে গেলেন। 46তিন দিন পরে তাঁরা তাঁকে ঈশ্বরের মন্দিরে পেলেন; তিনি ধর্মগুরুদের মধ্যে বসে তাঁদের কথা শুনছিলেন ও তাঁদের প্রশ্ন জিজ্ঞাসা করছিলেন; 47আর যারা তাঁর কথা শুনছিল, তাঁরা সবাই তাঁর বুদ্ধি ও উত্তরে খুবই আশ্চর্য্য বোধ করলো। 48তাঁকে দেখে তাঁরা খুবই অবাক হলেন এবং তাঁর মা তাঁকে বললেন, “পুত্র, আমাদের সঙ্গে এমন ব্যবহার কেন করলে? দেখ, তোমার বাবা এবং আমি খুবই চিন্তিত হয়ে তোমার খোঁজ করছিলাম।” 49তিনি তাঁদের বললেন, “কেন আমার খোঁজ করলে? আমার পিতার বাড়িতেই আমাকে থাকতে হবে, এটা কি জানতে না?” 50কিন্তু তিনি তাঁদের যে কথা বললেন, তা তাঁরা বুঝতে পারলেন না। 51পরে তিনি তাঁদের সঙ্গে নাসরতে চলে গেলেন ও তাঁদের বাধ্য হয়ে থাকলেন। আর তাঁর মা এ সমস্ত কথা নিজের হৃদয়ে সঞ্চয় করে রাখলেন।
