1. প্রথম পাঠ বেন-সিরা 17:1-15

   ¹The Lord created mankind out of earth, and turned them back to it again. ²He gave them days by number, and a set time, and gave them authority over the things that are on it. ³He endowed them with strength proper to them, and made them according to his own image. ⁴He put the fear of man upon all flesh, and gave him dominion over beasts and birds. ⁶He gave them counsel, tongue, eyes, ears, and heart to have understanding. ⁷He filled them with the knowledge of wisdom, and showed them good and evil. ⁸He set his eye upon their hearts, to show them the majesty of his works. ¹⁰And they will praise his holy name, that they may declare the majesty of his works. ¹¹He added to them knowledge, and gave them a law of life for a heritage. ¹²He made an everlasting covenant with them, and showed them his decrees. ¹³Their eyes saw the majesty of his glory. Their ears heard the glory of his voice. ¹⁴He said to them, “Beware of all unrighteousness.” So he gave them commandment, each man concerning his neighbor. ¹⁵Their ways are ever before him. They will not be hidden from his eyes.

2. সামসঙ্গীত সামসঙ্গীত 103:13-14, 15-16, 17-18a

   ¹³একজন বাবা যেমন সন্তানদের করুণা করেন, তেমন সদাপ্রভুুও করুণা করেন তাদের যারা তাঁকে সম্মান করে। ¹⁴কারণ তিনি আমাদের গঠন জানেন; তিতিনি তোমাকে দৃঢ় প্রেমের দ্বারা আশির্বাদ দেননি জানেন যে আমরা ধূলো মাত্র। ¹⁵যেমন মানুষ, তার আয়ু ঘাসের মতো; সে উন্নতি লাভ করে মাঠে ফুলের মতো। ¹⁶বাতাস তার ওপর দিয়ে বয়ে যায় এবং সে উধাও হয়ে যায় এবং কেউ এমনকি বলতে পারে না কোথায় সে আবার জন্মেছে। ¹⁷কিন্তু সদাপ্রভুুর বিশ্বস্ততার নিয়ম চিরস্হায়ী থেকে অনন্তকাল পর্যন্ত থাকে তাদের ওপর যারা তাঁকে সম্মান করে, তাঁর ধার্ম্মিকতা দীর্ঘস্থায়ী তাদের বংশধরদের ওপর। ¹⁸তারা তাঁর নিয়ম রক্ষা করত এবং মনে করে সবাই তাঁর নির্দেশ পালন করত।

   ¹³পরে লোকেরা কতগুলো শিশুকে যীশুর কাছে আনলো, যেন তিনি তাদেরকে ছুতে পারেন কিন্তু শিষ্যরা তাদের ধমক দিলেন। ¹⁴যখন যীশু তা দেখে রেগে গেলেন, আর শিষ্যদের কে বললেন, শিশুদের আমার কাছে আসতে দাও, বারণ করো না; কারণ ঈশ্বরের রাজ্য এই রকম লোকদেরই। ¹⁵আমি তোমাদের সত্য বলছি, যে কেউ শিশুর মতো হয়ে ঈশ্বরের রাজ্য গ্রহণ না করে, তবে সে কখনই ঈশ্বরের রাজ্যে প্রবেশ করতে পারবে না। ¹⁶পরে যীশু শিশুদের কোলে তুলে নিলেন ও তাদের মাথার উপরে হাত রেখে আশীর্বাদ করলেন।
