1. প্রথম পাঠ 1 মাক্কাবীয় 1:10-15, 41-43, 54-57, 62-64

   ¹⁰There came out of them a sinful root, Antiochus Epiphanes, son of Antiochus the king, who had been a hostage at Rome, and he reigned in the one hundred thirty seventh year of the kingdom of the Greeks. ¹¹In those days transgressors of the law came out of Israel and persuaded many, saying, “Let’s go make a covenant with the Gentiles around us; for since we were separated from them many evils have befallen us.” ¹²That proposal was good in their eyes. ¹³Some of the people eagerly went to the king, and he authorized them to observe the ordinances of the Gentiles. ¹⁴So they built a gymnasium in Jerusalem according to the laws of the Gentiles. ¹⁵They made themselves uncircumcised, forsook the holy covenant, joined themselves to the Gentiles, and sold themselves to do evil. ⁴¹King Antiochus wrote to his whole kingdom that all should be one people, ⁴²and that each should forsake his own laws. All the nations agreed according to the word of the king. ⁴³Many of Israel consented to his worship, sacrificed to the idols, and profaned the Sabbath. ⁵⁴On the fifteenth day of Chislev, in the one hundred forty fifth year, they built an abomination of desolation upon the altar, and in the cities of Judah on every side they built idol altars. ⁵⁵At the doors of the houses and in the streets they burned incense. ⁵⁶They tore up the books of the law which they found and set them on fire. ⁵⁷Anyone who was found with any book of the covenant, and if any consented to the law, the king’s sentence delivered him to death. ⁶²Many in Israel were fully resolved and confirmed in themselves not to eat unclean things. ⁶³They chose to die, that they might not be defiled with the food, and that they might not profane the holy covenant; and they died. ⁶⁴Exceedingly great wrath came upon Israel.

   ⁵³আমার ক্রোধ জ্বলে উঠেছে, পাপীদের জন্য যারা তোমার ব্যবস্থা অগ্রাহ্য করে। ⁶¹পাপীদের দড়ি আমাকে ফাঁদে ফেলেছে, আমি তোমার ব্যবস্থা ভুলে যাই নি। ¹³⁴মানুষের উপদ্রব থেকে আমাকে উদ্ধার কর, যাতে আমি তোমার নির্দেশগুলো পালন করতে পারি। ¹⁵⁰যারা আমায় অত্যাচার করেছে তারা আমার কাছে আসছে; কিন্তু তারা তোমার ব্যবস্থা থেকে অনেক দূরে। ¹⁵⁵পরিত্রান পাপীদের থেকে দূরে, কারণ তারা তোমার বিধি সকল ভালবাসে না। ¹⁵⁸আমি বিশ্বাসঘাতকদেরকে ঘৃণা ভাবে দেখলাম, কারণ তারা তোমার বাক্য পালন করে না।

4. মঙ্গলসমাচার লূক 18:35-43

   ³⁵আর যখন যীশু এবং তাঁর শিষ্যরা যিরীহোর কাছে আসলেন, একজন অন্ধ পথের পাশে বসে ভিক্ষা করছিল; ³⁶সে লোকদের যাওয়ার শব্দ শুনে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, এর কারণ কি? ³⁷লোকে তাকে বলল, নাসরতীয় যীশু সেখান দিয়ে যাচ্ছেন। ³⁸তখন সে চিৎকার করে বলল, হে যীশু, দায়ূদ-সন্তান, আমাদের প্রতি দয়া করুন। ³⁹যারা আগে আগে যাচ্ছিল, তারা চুপ করো বলে তাকে ধমক দিল, কিন্তু সে আরও জোরে চেঁচাতে লাগল, হে দায়ূদ-সন্তান, আমার প্রতি দয়া করুন। ⁴⁰তখন যীশু থেমে গিয়ে তাকে তাঁর কাছে আনতে আদেশ করলেন; পরে সে কাছে আসলে যীশু তাকে বললেন, তুমি কি চাও? ⁴¹আমি তোমার জন্য কি করব? সে বলল, প্রভু, আমি দেখতে চাই। ⁴²যীশু তাকে বললেন, দেখ; তোমার বিশ্বাস তোমাকে সুস্থ করল। ⁴³তাতে সে তক্ষুনি দেখতে পেল এবং ঈশ্বরের গৌরব করতে করতে তাঁর পিছন পিছন চলল। তা দেখে সব লোক ঈশ্বরের স্তব করল।
