Mass during the Day
First reading Galatians 5:18-25
18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19Now the deeds of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, 20idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, 21envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s Kingdom. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, 23gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. 25If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Responsorial Psalm Psalms 1:1-2, 3, 4, 6
1Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers; 2but his delight is in the LORD’s law. On his law he meditates day and night. 3He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper. 4The wicked are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 6For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Gospel Luke 11:42-46
42But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, but you bypass justice and God’s love. You ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone. 43Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues and the greetings in the marketplaces. 44Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like hidden graves, and the men who walk over them don’t know it.” 45One of the lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying this you insult us also.” 46He said, “Woe to you lawyers also! For you load men with burdens that are difficult to carry, and you yourselves won’t even lift one finger to help carry those burdens.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Public Domain. First reading Sirach 26:1-4, 13-16
1Happy is the husband of a good wife. The number of his days will be doubled. 2A faithful wife gives joy to her husband. He will fulfill his years in peace. 3A good wife is a great gift. She will be given to those who fear the Lord. 4Whether a man is rich or poor, a good heart makes a cheerful face at all times. 13The grace of a wife will delight her husband. Her knowledge will strengthen his bones. 14A silent woman is a gift of the Lord. There is nothing worth so much as a well-instructed soul. 15A modest woman is grace upon grace. There are no scales that can weigh the value of a self-controlled soul. 16As the sun when it arises in the highest places of the Lord, so is the beauty of a good wife in her well-organized home.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Responsorial Psalm Psalms 128:1-2, 3, 4-5
1A Song of Ascents. Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways. 2For you will eat the labor of your hands. You will be happy, and it will be well with you. 3Your wife will be as a fruitful vine in the innermost parts of your house, your children like olive shoots around your table. 4Behold, this is how the man who fears the LORD is blessed. 5May the LORD bless you out of Zion, and may you see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Gospel Mark 3:31-35
31His mother and his brothers came, and standing outside, they sent to him, calling him. 32A multitude was sitting around him, and they told him, “Behold, your mother, your brothers, and your sisters are outside looking for you.” 33He answered them, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” 34Looking around at those who sat around him, he said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers! 35For whoever does the will of God is my brother, my sister, and mother.”WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic).
