Mass during the Day
First reading Deuteronomy 4:32-40
32For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and from the one end of the sky to the other, whether there has been anything as great as this thing is, or has been heard like it? 33Did a people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as you have heard, and live? 34Or has God tried to go and take a nation for himself from among another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, by war, by a mighty hand, by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? 35It was shown to you so that you might know that the LORD is God. There is no one else besides him. 36Out of heaven he made you to hear his voice, that he might instruct you. On earth he made you to see his great fire; and you heard his words out of the middle of the fire. 37Because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their offspring after them, and brought you out with his presence, with his great power, out of Egypt; 38to drive out nations from before you greater and mightier than you, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is today. 39Know therefore today, and take it to heart, that the LORD himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath. There is no one else. 40You shall keep his statutes and his commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the LORD your God gives you for all time.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Responsorial Psalm Psalms 77:12-13, 14-15, 16, 21
11I will remember the LORD’s deeds; for I will remember your wonders of old. 12I will also meditate on all your work, and consider your doings. 13Your way, God, is in the sanctuary. What god is great like God? 14You are the God who does wonders. You have made your strength known among the peoples. 15You have redeemed your people with your arm, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. 20You led your people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Public Domain. Source: eBible.org. Read in context: Psalms 77:12-13, 14-15, 16, 21
Gospel acclamation Matthew 5:10
Gospel Matthew 16:24-28
24Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. 25For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it. 26For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life? 27For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will give to everyone according to his deeds. 28Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste of death until they see the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom.”WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). First reading 1 Corinthians 2:1-10a
1When I came to you, brothers, I didn’t come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. 2For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5that your faith wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 6We speak wisdom, however, among those who are full grown, yet a wisdom not of this world nor of the rulers of this world who are coming to nothing. 7But we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom that has been hidden, which God foreordained before the worlds for our glory, 8which none of the rulers of this world has known. For had they known it, they wouldn’t have crucified the Lord of glory. 9But as it is written, “Things which an eye didn’t see, and an ear didn’t hear, which didn’t enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him.” 10But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.Some verses are read only in part; the whole verse is shown.

Responsorial Psalm Psalms 96:1-2a, 2b-3, 7-8a, 10
1Sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the earth. 2Sing to the LORD! Bless his name! Proclaim his salvation from day to day! 3Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. 7Ascribe to the LORD, you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. 8Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to his name. Bring an offering, and come into his courts. 10Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns.” The world is also established. It can’t be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity. Some verses are read only in part; the whole verse is shown.

Gospel acclamation John 8:12
Gospel Luke 9:57-62
57As they went on the way, a certain man said to him, “I want to follow you wherever you go, Lord.” 58Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” 59He said to another, “Follow me!” But he said, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.” 60But Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you go and announce God’s Kingdom.” 61Another also said, “I want to follow you, Lord, but first allow me to say good-bye to those who are at my house.” 62But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for God’s Kingdom.”WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic).
