Mass readings
First reading Romans 11:29-36
29For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. 30For as you in time past were disobedient to God, but now have obtained mercy by their disobedience, 31even so these also have now been disobedient, that by the mercy shown to you they may also obtain mercy. 32For God has bound all to disobedience, that he might have mercy on all. 33Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out! 34“For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” 35“Or who has first given to him, and it will be repaid to him again?” 36For of him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory for ever! Amen.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Public Domain. Source: eBible.org. Read in context: Romans 11:29-36
Responsorial Psalm Psalms 69:30-31, 33-34, 36-37
29But I am in pain and distress. Let your salvation, God, protect me. 30I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. 32The humble have seen it, and are glad. You who seek after God, let your heart live. 33For the LORD hears the needy, and doesn’t despise his captive people. 35For God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah. They shall settle there, and own it. 36The children also of his servants shall inherit it. Those who love his name shall dwell therein.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Public Domain. Gospel acclamation John 8:31b-32
Gospel Luke 14:12-14
12He also said to the one who had invited him, “When you make a dinner or a supper, don’t call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back. 13But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind; 14and you will be blessed, because they don’t have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous.”WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Public Domain. Source: eBible.org. Read in context: Luke 14:12-14
