Mass during the Day
First reading Habakkuk 1:12-2:4
12Aren’t you from everlasting, LORD my God, my Holy One? We will not die. LORD, you have appointed them for judgment. You, Rock, have established him to punish. 13You who have purer eyes than to see evil, and who cannot look on perversity, why do you tolerate those who deal treacherously and keep silent when the wicked swallows up the man who is more righteous than he, 14and make men like the fish of the sea, like the creeping things that have no ruler over them? 15He takes up all of them with the hook. He catches them in his net and gathers them in his dragnet. Therefore he rejoices and is glad. 16Therefore he sacrifices to his net and burns incense to his dragnet, because by them his life is luxurious and his food is good. 17Will he therefore continually empty his net, and kill the nations without mercy? 1I will stand at my watch and set myself on the ramparts, and will look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint. 2The LORD answered me, “Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who runs may read it. 3For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it, because it will surely come. It won’t delay. 4Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Public Domain. Source: eBible.org. Read in context: Habakkuk 1:12-2:4
Responsorial Psalm Psalms 9:8-9, 10-11, 12-13
7But the LORD reigns forever. He has prepared his throne for judgment. 8He will judge the world in righteousness. He will administer judgment to the peoples in uprightness. 9The LORD will also be a high tower for the oppressed; a high tower in times of trouble. 10Those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you. 11Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion, and declare among the people what he has done. 12For he who avenges blood remembers them. He doesn’t forget the cry of the afflicted.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Public Domain. Source: eBible.org. Read in context: Psalms 9:8-9, 10-11, 12-13
Gospel acclamation 2 Timothy 1:10
Gospel Matthew 17:14-20
14When they came to the multitude, a man came to him, kneeling down to him and saying, 15“Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is epileptic and suffers grievously; for he often falls into the fire, and often into the water. 16So I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him.” 17Jesus answered, “Faithless and perverse generation! How long will I be with you? How long will I bear with you? Bring him here to me.” 18Jesus rebuked the demon, and it went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour. 19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, “Why weren’t we able to cast it out?” 20He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). First reading 1 Corinthians 2:1-10a
1When I came to you, brothers, I didn’t come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. 2For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5that your faith wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 6We speak wisdom, however, among those who are full grown, yet a wisdom not of this world nor of the rulers of this world who are coming to nothing. 7But we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom that has been hidden, which God foreordained before the worlds for our glory, 8which none of the rulers of this world has known. For had they known it, they wouldn’t have crucified the Lord of glory. 9But as it is written, “Things which an eye didn’t see, and an ear didn’t hear, which didn’t enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him.” 10But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.Some verses are read only in part; the whole verse is shown.

Responsorial Psalm Psalms 96:1-2a, 2b-3, 7-8a, 10
1Sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the earth. 2Sing to the LORD! Bless his name! Proclaim his salvation from day to day! 3Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. 7Ascribe to the LORD, you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. 8Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to his name. Bring an offering, and come into his courts. 10Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns.” The world is also established. It can’t be moved. He will judge the peoples with equity. Some verses are read only in part; the whole verse is shown.

Gospel acclamation John 8:12
Gospel Luke 9:57-62
57As they went on the way, a certain man said to him, “I want to follow you wherever you go, Lord.” 58Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” 59He said to another, “Follow me!” But he said, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.” 60But Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you go and announce God’s Kingdom.” 61Another also said, “I want to follow you, Lord, but first allow me to say good-bye to those who are at my house.” 62But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for God’s Kingdom.”WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic).
