Mass during the Day
First reading Acts 6:8-15
8Stephen, full of faith and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people. 9But some of those who were of the synagogue called “The Libertines”, and of the Cyrenians, of the Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia arose, disputing with Stephen. 10They weren’t able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. 11Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” 12They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and came against him and seized him, then brought him in to the council, 13and set up false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the law. 14For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered to us.” 15All who sat in the council, fastening their eyes on him, saw his face like it was the face of an angel.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Responsorial Psalm Psalms 119:23-24, 26-27, 29-30
23Though princes sit and slander me, your servant will meditate on your statutes. 24Indeed your statutes are my delight, and my counselors. DALETH 26I declared my ways, and you answered me. Teach me your statutes. 27Let me understand the teaching of your precepts! Then I will meditate on your wondrous works. 29Keep me from the way of deceit. Grant me your law graciously! 30I have chosen the way of truth. I have set your ordinances before me.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Public Domain. Source: eBible.org. Gospel John 6:22-29
22On the next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except the one in which his disciples had embarked, and that Jesus hadn’t entered with his disciples into the boat, but his disciples had gone away alone. 23However, boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks. 24When the multitude therefore saw that Jesus wasn’t there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. 25When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” 26Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.” 28They said therefore to him, “What must we do, that we may work the works of God?” 29Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). First reading Genesis 1:26-2:3
26God said, “Let’s make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them. 28God blessed them. God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29God said, “Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food. 30To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food;” and it was so. 31God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day. 1The heavens, the earth, and all their vast array were finished. 2On the seventh day God finished his work which he had done; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done. 3God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done.Or: Colossians 3:14-15, 17, 23-24

Responsorial Psalm Psalms 90:2, 3-4, 12-13, 14, 16
2Before the mountains were born, before you had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God. 3You turn man to destruction, saying, “Return, you children of men.” 4For a thousand years in your sight are just like yesterday when it is past, like a watch in the night. 12So teach us to count our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. 13Relent, LORD! How long? Have compassion on your servants! 14Satisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. 16Let your work appear to your servants, your glory to their children.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic). Gospel Matthew 13:54-58
54Coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works? 55Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother called Mary, and his brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? 56Aren’t all of his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all of these things?” 57They were offended by him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country and in his own house.” 58He didn’t do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.WEB-C · World English Bible (Catholic).
